Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, Get Ready!
by Jennifer A. Miskov, Ph.D.
“consider the voice of the singers at the watering places. They recite the victories of the Lord, the victories of his villagers in Israel.” –Judges 5:10-11
When I came to Australia last year, I began to hear an anthem for the nation spreading. It went something like this, “Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, get ready, get ready, Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, get ready, get ready…” (Early explorers recognized this nation’s sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and termed it “The Great Southland of the Holy Spirit”). I immediately could feel the anointing on this song and that there was something special on it. I had no idea who wrote it or where it came from when I first heard it.
On October 5, 2025 (on day 35 of our 40 day fast for the nation), I had the opportunity to minister at The Church GC in Gold Coast where God crashed in powerfully. There, I got to meet Clay who was the one who originally wrote this anthem. I got to minister with this same fiery community October 31, 2025 for the 120 year anniversary of the Welsh Revival where Clay and the team released the anthem that night.
Then when I came back to minister at the Church GC on February 8, 2026, the anniversary of the Asbury Revival, Clay happened to be leading worship and released the full version of this song for the first time. A couple of weeks later, I got to be at the live recording of when Clay along with the Church GC family recorded this anointed anthem with all ages and children singing along. Such a beautiful picture that demonstrates it’s not about performance, it’s about family.
The fact that this song began to be released during significant revival anniversaries is no coincidence. There is the oil of revival dripping all over this song. It’s not just an anthem for this nation of Australia, but I believe it’s a song that will catalyze other anthems for other nations as well.
It is important that we pay attention to the new songs and new sounds being released in our generation, they are carrying the weight of God’s heart. As we lean in, listen, and sing along, we will position ourselves to ride the wave of His Spirit for such a time as this.
As we ready ourselves to be full of oil to step into all God has for our generation, may you be inspired, encouraged, and stirred by this anthem of revival released for such a time as this.
Lyrics: Great Southland (Get Ready) by Clay Lambert
I feel the joy of the Lord rising in this nation
Covering the red dust planes, deep into the oceans
And up from the ashes of old, new life will surely grow
For this is a new day and He’s doing a new thing
I hear the praises of saints from every generation
Coming together again from far and distant places
A sound of the young and the old holy & wonderful
Devoted in one accord to worship and seek the Lord
Let us rejoice, rejoice Let your dancing fill the streets
There’s a new day beckoning
Let us rejoice, rejoice
From the wilderness we’ll sing
Prepare the way for the Risen King (get ready)
We’ll see the eastern shores join in with the heavens
And kick down the idols formed with a heart of reverence
Then through the western plains
A move like a mighty wave
Crashing through barren lands
And healing the hearts of man
Great southland of the Holy Spirit, get ready, get ready
Great southland of the Holy Spirit, get ready, get ready
Great southland of the Holy Spirit, get ready, get ready
With all my heart, I believe that now its Australia’s time. That’s why I have returned. I’m ready.
Are you ready?
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. –Luke 12:35-36
“Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord. –Isaiah 54:1
